15 Minutes
15 Minutes. What can happen within 15 minutes? Well today, enough! After an encouraging lunch catching up with a friend, I returned to my car with a flat tire. As I was determining my next step, my cell phone rang and it was Val. She calmly informed me that they were in a minor car accident. NO ONE WAS HURT and there was very little damage on either car!!! We thank God for His protection on both accounts. I guess things could have been worse for the Rickett family if my tire blew out while traveling 65 MPH on Rt. 95 (ok I do 70 sometimes!) or if Val and the kids were injured as a result of the accident.
As I think of the events that my family experienced today and then the email that we received from the Collins family regarding an armed robbery at their next-door neighbors home, life is very fragile. Within minutes lives can be changed forever. Today’s experiences lead me to evaluate AGAIN the important matters of life and I ask myself: How am I loving my family? Am I resting in Jesus when life hits me in unexpected ways? Who is God calling me to bless today-a tow truck driver, a neighbor, a friend, a peer, a person in the community, a family member? What really satisfies me-Jesus, my possessions, my status and record, my appearance?
What about you? Where is God for you when you experience the frailty of life? I would love to hear and be encouraged in my faith journey with Jesus.
Warmly,
Jeff
